What can YEC do for you?
As a student interested in science, engineering or technology, you’ll find that Young Engineers Clubs can take you out of the classroom and into the real world. Through joining a club or entering the Young Engineers Clubs Scotland Showcase and Technology Challenge (Celebration of Engineering) event, you’ll find yourself working with teachers and other students who share your interests in a friendly and informal environment.
- meet and work with professional engineers on projects that have real significance.
- experience all the elements of the engineer’s job:
- identifying needs,
- analysing problems,
- conducting research,
- developing a specification,
- making and testing the product.
- you’ll develop your skills,

As a teacher you are invaluable to the Young Engineers Clubs:
- You become the prime motivator for young people who join the club or enter the competitions,
- you act as the main interface between the school or college and local industry. Hard work, but the rewards are great.
- You receive the support and expertise of local industry and engineers, thus enabling you to undertake a wide range of science, engineering and technology and challenge projects with additional confidence.
- You benefit personally from new insights into industry and the chance to update your knowledge.
