You will find on this page a number of contacts for a number of  projects you may wish to consider for your club.  These include projects kits from MADLAB (discounted for clubs) which are fun, and ideal as an introduction to tackling more complex projects. You will also find information on how, and where to get assistance from “real” engineers through the Science & Engineering Ambassadors Scheme (SEAS). The discounts help to ease the financial burden on clubs and we are working hard to keep increasing the range of discounts available to clubs.

Bridges to Schools Initiative

This is an ongoing scheme promoted by the Institution of Civil Engineers with a view to raise the awareness of the Civil Engineering Profession among Primary School pupils.

It is intended to give the pupils an early insight into the challenges of Civil Engineering while having some fun along the way.

MadLab is a unique, hands-on electronics workshop for children and adults. In the workshop participants solder electronic components onto specially-designed circuit boards. There are currently over thirty.

Madlab Kits which people can make - the simplest being Flashing Lights, the most complicated a programmable robot which is able to find its way around a maze. The excitement of MadLab is learning how to use a soldering iron, and actually being able to make and take home a working electronic circuit.

When visiting the Madlab site, Young Engineers Clubs Scotland can order kits at the discounted prices in the 3rd column (ie the 100-of prices) irrespective of the size of the order.  Note that these prices are ex-postage and ex VAT.  Clubs can be invoiced on dispatch if they raise an official purchase order.

The BMFA education programme aims to encourage youngsters to build and fly model aircraft and so develop new skills and gain an insight into the science and technology of flight.

The programme is constantly expanding and improving. The present range of kits are specially designed to improve the youngsters knowledge and skills as well as giving improved flying performance.

Science and Engineering Ambassadors are volunteers with an interest in Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics (STEM) who are willing to work with schools, teachers and pupils to stimulate and inspire their interest in these subjects.

Imagineering Junior Engineering Clubs are aimed at encouraging children of Primary School age to become the next generation of Engineers and Scientists. In these Clubs children are helped to make working models from a series of kits. As well as practical skills, through their natural curiosity they gain an understanding of how their models work, and of engineering and science in general. And when they take their completed models home, parental interest further encourages their enthusiasm.

Purchasing an Imagineering Kit is a good way to get a primary club up and running.
